Kyiv has signed a loan agreement with the EBRD

Kyiv has signed a new loan agreement with Odile Renaud-Basso, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which provides for an increase in the EBRD loan to 150 million euros and the provision of a grant of 5 million euros. These funds, as part of the ‘RLF – Kyiv Metro’ project, will be used to modernise the metro’s rolling stock. Vitali Klitschko announced this on his Telegram channel.

“The Ukrainian capital continues its cooperation with the EBRD. Today, Kyiv signed a new loan agreement with Odile Renaud-Basso, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which provides for an increase in the EBRD loan to €150 million and the provision of a grant of €5 million. These funds, as part of the ‘RLF – Kyiv Metro’ project, will be channelled towards the modernisation of the metro’s rolling stock. Previously, it was planned to allocate 50 million euros to this sub-project (as part of the ‘Modernisation of Kyiv’s Urban Transport II’ programme). “However, the funding was subsequently restructured and significantly increased,” wrote Vitali Klitschko.

The mayor noted that cooperation between Kyiv and the EBRD began even before the war. And thanks to the EBRD’s support, Kyiv can continue to implement city development projects.

“Currently, in partnership with the EBRD, the city is implementing four projects totalling 290 million euros. These include projects to modernise public transport and Kyiv’s district heating system,” said Vitali Klitschko.

He thanked the EBRD for its effective cooperation in developing the urban infrastructure of the Ukrainian capital.
