The influential international conference on the public-private partnership "Infrastructure PPPs in Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia" took place in Kyiv. Kyiv presented the project “Introduction of the system for fixation of violations in the field of road safety in the automatic mode”

"The need for this project is due to a large number of traffic accidents in the capital and the victims because of them. In particular, in 2016, the road accident rate in the capital amounted to 27.7% of the total number in Ukraine. So this requires measures of improvement of road safety, "said the Director of the Department of Economics and Investments Nataliia Melnyk.

According to her, the project is initiated by LLC “Safe Roads of Ukraine”, in partnership with the Academy of Public-Private Partnership. The implementation of the relevant proposals will contribute to Ukraine's implementation of the recommendations of the UN Resolution "Road Safety Improvement Worldwide" and the Global Plan of the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020. In addition, the project is in line with the Transport Strategy of Ukraine for the period of up to 2020 and the concept "KYIV SMART CITY 2020".

At the conference representatives of the Government, Kyiv authorities, international organizations, and enterprises raised the pressing issues of the implementation of the mechanism of public-private partnership in the medical, municipal and transport spheres as well as in the field of infrastructure development of cities.

The conference was organized by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the SP3ILNO Project Office and the Global Infrastructure Hub.
