Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Kyiv City State Administration and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in respect of the EBRD "Green Cities" Programme. This document opens up the opportunity to implement important infrastructure projects in the capital.
In particular, to upgrade the rolling stock of ME "Kyivpastrans" and ME "Kyivsky Metropolitan" with new buses, trolleybuses, and metro cars. And also it will help to carry out a comprehensive reconstruction of the tram line and stop "Kontraktova Ploshcha", major repairs of the Metro Bridge.
"We jointly selected 4 transport infrastructure projects that we can implement during 2019-2020. Just recently, the EBRD Credit Committee has approved the concept of projects for an estimated total cost of 320 million euros. After signing the Memorandum, we have to prepare all the necessary documents and approve these projects. Then, credit agreements will be signed and we will start tender procedures", - said Vitali Klitschko.
According to him, this is the second stage of cooperation with the EBRD. Nowadays, in the framework of cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, two projects on the renewal of rolling stock of public transport are being implemented. One of them is 60 million euros for ME "Kyivpastrans" for the purchase of 185 buses and 202 trolleybuses. And also 40 million euros for ME "Kyivsky Metropolitan" - the purchase of 50 metro cars. These projects will operate until 2021.
"Also the not less important project will be the modernization of the district heating system of the capital, which involves a loan for ME "Kyivteploenergo" up to EUR 140 million under the guarantee of the Kyiv City Council", - said Vitali Klitschko.
"Concepts of these projects are approved within the framework of the regional policy of the "Green Cities" Programme, which provides EBRD assistance in financing the priority projects of the ecological infrastructure, in the implementation of strategic planning. And also - technical assistance and donor support", - said the mayor of the capital.
In the framework of the "Green Cities" Programme, which helps to implement environmental technologies, besides financial resources, EBRD provides support to partner cities in the development and implementation of the Green City Action Plan. And also - assistance in determining investment programs and receiving donor assistance.
