Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko discussed investment projects and future cooperation between Kyiv and French businesses during a meeting with a Movement of the Enterprises of France (MEDEF) delegation in Kyiv.

Vitaliy Klitschko thanked his French partners for supporting Ukraine in its efforts to become part of the European community, for supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Ukrainian state.

The mayor of Kyiv stressed that the best response to Russia's imperial ambitions would be the successful economic development of Ukraine and the high standard of living of its citizens.

Vitaliy Klitschko noted that before the coronavirus pandemic, 60% of foreign investment in Ukraine came to the capital. And today Kyiv needs investment projects, new technologies, implementation of interesting ideas and partners for their execution.

"The city can offer a lot of attractive investment projects. We do everything to make the conditions for business transparent and favourable so that investors are interested in investing in the Ukrainian capital", - said Vitali Klitschko.

The mayor of the capital spoke about the recent visit of the Minister of Finance and Economy of France Bruno Le Mer, during which agreements were reached on the participation of the French side in projects to modernize Kyiv's water supply systems.

MEDEF President Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux said that this was the first visit of the Movement of the Enterprises of France to Ukraine. The MEDEF delegation includes 20 companies working in various fields, and all of them are very interested in establishing business relations with Ukraine and Kyiv.

In response to questions from the chairman of the Ukrainian-French Council of MEDEF Laurent Germain about investment projects, Vitali Klitschko outlined several areas in which Kyiv needs investment the most. In particular, it is the construction of the metro, roads and transport infrastructure, underground and multilevel car parking, reconstruction of obsolete bridges and tram tracks, development of urban electric transport, waste management and others.

Representatives of French businesses expressed interest in the participation of their companies in the development of projects for the construction of railway infrastructure, including tram tracks and metro, roads and transport hubs, reconstruction of bridges, modernization of water supply systems and cybersecurity projects.

Mr Geoffroy Roux de Bézier invited Vitali Klitschko to visit Paris, where Kyiv will be able to present and discuss specific investment projects.

MEDEF is the most authoritative business community in France, uniting about 800,000 companies and relying on 76 industry federations of French manufacturers.
