Kyiv and Brussels, Paris, Rome, Helsinki, Poznań, Podgorica, Berlin, Lyon, Riga, Sarajevo, and Vilnius signed a joint declaration on joint efforts to ensure the rapid and stable reconstruction of the urban areas of the capital region destroyed by Russian attacks. The signing ceremony was held as part of the Investment Forum of the City of Kyiv-2022: "Greater Kyiv: Sustainability. Innovations. Sustainable Development" held today in Brussels.
The cities agreed on mutual support in crisis situations and assistance of a humanitarian and technical nature, as well as on strengthening economic, cultural and social relations in future projects. Kyiv and Brussels also agreed on cooperation in the areas of urban development, namely in matters of investment, digitalization and the economic sphere. As stated in the document, "reconstruction projects should contribute to the creation of safe, prosperous and livable urban areas."
Other cities, united in their desire to help in the post-war reconstruction and sustainable development of Kyiv and its surrounding territories, can also join the joint declaration.
Also within the Investment Forum of the City of Kyiv-2022: "Greater Kyiv: Sustainability. Innovations. Sustainable Development" signed the Twinning Agreement between the cities of Kyiv and Dublin, the Memorandum of Understanding between the cities of Kyiv and Helsinki, as well as the Agreement on the establishment of friendly relations between the cities of Kyiv and Sarajevo.
