POST-WAR RECONSTRUCTION AND FURTHER DEVELOPMENT WILL TAKE PLACE WITHIN THE KYIV AGGLOMERATION - MYKOLA POVOROZNYK

Post-war recovery and further development will take place, evenly covering metropolitan communities within the Kyiv agglomeration. About it at the Kyiv Investment Forum 2022: "Greater Kyiv: Sustainability. Innovations. Sustainable development" said Mykola Povoroznyk, First Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration.

In particular, he spoke about the fact that despite the difficult situation in the energy and humanitarian spheres, Kyiv is helping to restore normal life in the de-occupied territories. Humanitarian aid was sent to Kherson, Bucha, Irpin, Gostomel, and Borodyanka. The Ukrainian capital received the wounded in medical institutions, helped to clear rubble and destroyed houses, and resettled forced migrants.

"The war only confirmed us in the correctness and perspective of the development of the Kyiv agglomeration - the unification of metropolitan communities on good-neighborly terms," said Mykola Povoroznyk.

He also noted that further cooperation within Greater Kyiv will take place in the spheres of transport, communal services, social protection, ecology and digital transformation.

"Our cooperation with neighboring communities within the framework of the development of Greater Kyiv will also concern the reindustrialization of industrial areas on an innovative basis, the formation of economic clusters, industrial parks, and logistics centers," Mykola Povoroznyk added.

He noted that war is not only a test, but also a chance for transformation:

"We are aware that the main challenge for post-war Ukraine and Kyiv, in particular, is the transformation of the economy. Greater Kyiv must transition to an economy in which human capital and new modern knowledge will be realized in new products with high added value."

Mykola Povoroznyk named construction, renewable energy, the defense-industrial complex, financial services, the transport industry, and information and communication technologies as priorities for attracting foreign investments for the Kyiv agglomeration.

"Kyiv has a long history of partnership with international financial organizations. Today, the capital is open to expanding cooperation with partners to create a program of technical and economic support for Kyiv," Mykola Povoroznyk emphasized.
