Mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko took part in the presentation of the Uber Shuttle project, which will be launched soon in the capital.
"Today, Kyiv has once again demonstrated that it is introducing global innovative solutions. The Ukrainian capital was chosen as the first European city to implement the Uber Shuttle service. And we hope that this service will become a safe, reliable and affordable alternative to private carriers for the citizens of Kyiv. The city administration will continue to work with Uber to improve urban mobility. Uber Green, launched in March this year, and now Uber Shuttle - practical examples of such cooperation ", - said Vitaliy Klitschko.
He noted that the appearance of a new player in the transportation market creates competitive conditions on it. The Mayor expressed hope that launching the Uber Shuttle service will be a signal to carriers that the quality of routing provision services should be improved.
Creating a comfortable and safe transport system, according to Vitaliy Klitschko, is one of the priorities for the city authorities. Over the past few years, the capital has bought 121 new trolleybuses, 63 trams, and 100 new buses.
"Yes, this is not enough, and we continue to work on the renovation of public transport. And also look for solutions that will help to improve the situation with the movement of the capital. The project, which is starting today in Kyiv, is one of these solutions", - said Mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko.
"I am very proud that we are the first in Europe launching this project today in Kyiv!" - said Jamie Heywood Uber’s Regional General Manager for Northern and Eastern Europe. Mayor of Kyiv thanked partners from Uber, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, and all those who worked on the implementation of the new project.
Participation in the presentation of Uber Shuttle was also taken by Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelyan, Chargé d'Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine Joseph Pennington, Uber’s Regional General Manager for Northern and Eastern Europe Jamie Heywood.
