The communities of Kyiv region presented priority areas for investments to the EUROCITIES association

The heads of the Ivankivska, Nemishaevska, Rzhyshchyvska and Buchanska territorial communities presented the priority directions for investments and key projects for the development and reconstruction of cities after the Russian occupation to their European colleagues - the mayors of the cities that are part of the EUROCITIES association. As reported by the Department of Economy and Investments, the event was held as part of the Kyiv-2022 Investment Forum: "Sustainability. Innovation. Sustainability".

During the meeting, the participants also discussed the issue of attracting investments for the restoration and reconstruction of settlements in the Kyiv region, as well as the possibility of involving European cities in this process.

In his welcoming speech, the Mayor of Florence, the President of EUROCITIES, Dario Nardella, emphasized the importance of coming together to help Ukrainian cities whose critical infrastructure is currently being destroyed by missile attacks. He also noted that the joint project of the European Parliament and EUROCITIES called "Generators of Hope" is aimed at providing urgent support to the cities of Ukraine and providing electricity to hospitals, heating points, communication stations and other critical infrastructure facilities.

According to Oksana Prodan, adviser to the head of the Association of Cities of Ukraine, the support of the mayors of European cities is very important both now and for the further restoration of Ukrainian cities and towns. She also informed EUROCITIES participants about the activities of the Association, focusing on the mutual support of communities during the war, and also outlined the key areas of interest in cooperation with European cities: establishing direct connections at the community level, exchange of best practices, trainings for municipal employees, improvement legislative framework, development of transport infrastructure and implementation of other joint projects.

Representatives of the municipalities of Prague, Amsterdam, Lille, Lyon, Oslo and other European cities shared their experience of managing metropolises with their Ukrainian colleagues. They also presented areas of competence in which they are ready to cooperate more widely with Kyiv and the Kyiv region.
