Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko met with the EBRD delegation led by the Bank's President Odile Renaud-Basso at the capital city hall. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is a long-standing and reliable partner of Kyiv. Currently, in cooperation with the EBRD, the capital is implementing several important projects. Vitaliy Klitschko announced this on his Facebook page.
"In 2019, Kyiv joined the EBRD Green Cities Program." Within the framework of this Program, the city implements projects for a total amount of 320 million euros. In particular, the project "Modernization of urban transport in Kyiv II". How 180 million euros are provided for updating the rolling stock of public transport. Of these, 50 million euros are allocated to metro cars, and 60 million euros to trams. 10 million euros for the complex reconstruction of the tram line and the Kontraktova Ploshcha stop, and 60 million euros for the capital repair of the Metro bridge roadways. The beneficiaries of the project are KP "Kyivskyi metropoliten", KP "Kyivpastrans" and KK "Kyivavtodor", wrote the mayor of Kyiv.
Vitaliy Klitschko also added that with the support of the EBRD, the capital city authorities are implementing the project "Modernization of the centralized heat supply system of the city of Kyiv" - in the amount of 140 million euros. In particular, it is about the modernization of the equipment of CHP-5, CHP-6, reconstruction of 8 large boiler houses; major repair of heating networks; closure of 45 small inefficient boiler houses with reconnection of consumers; creation of a system of remote collection and analysis of information.
The project is currently suspended due to the war in Ukraine. In agreement with the EBRD, the started tender procedures have been temporarily suspended.
"According to the results of the Kyiv Investment Forum, which took place in Brussels at the end of 2022, the Ukrainian capital and the EBRD agreed on a partnership worth 100 million euros. It is aimed at a wide range of projects supporting Kyiv's energy security, providing emergency liquidity assistance for municipal assets, compensation for import losses, and more. Even in this difficult time for Ukraine, the EBRD is trying to help Kyiv in every possible way. And we are very grateful for that," noted Vitaliy Klitschko.
