Kyiv signed with the international partners the Memorandum on the development of the heat and power complex

Kyiv City State Administration and "Kyivteploenergo" signed the Memorandum with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the International Finance Corporation, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on international cooperation in modernization and development of the heat and power complex of the capital.

From KCSA the document was signed by Vitaliy Klitschko. "Kyiv lays the foundation for international cooperation in modernization and development of the city's heat and power complex. We are developing the plan to transform "Kyivteploenergo" into the European-level company that will provide high-quality services", he said.

According to him, the main objective of the cooperation is the creation of the new concept of work of "Kyivteploenergo" and a clear plan for its implementation with the support of international partners.

The Mayor reminded that in April this year the city completed the 17-year agreement with PJSC "Kyivenergo". The capital made an unprecedented step - for the first time in Ukraine, the heat and power complex of the city returned under the control of the community. These are the largest thermal power plants in Ukraine - TPP-5 and TPP-6, almost 200 boiler-houses, 2.6 thousand km of networks, the incinerator "Energy".

For decades, the modernization of the complex did not invest enough, its technical condition can be called critical because the networks are worn by almost 80%.

Vitaliy Klitschko emphasized that the goal of the signed memorandum is to transform "Kyivteploenergo" into a powerful, consumer-oriented company with a well-defined strategy that includes the involvement of the latest technologies and energy efficiency improvement. For its part, the city is ready to overcome those risks and obstacles that today may arise, taking into account the imperfection of the current legislation, the complicated situation in the country's heat energy sector.

Within the framework of the memorandum, an interim financial package is planned to be worked out. This is an investment of $ 100 million in the first priority projects of modernization. These funds will be used for reconstruction, replacement, and refurbishment of the infrastructure.

In turn, Mr. Farhad Ghaussy, Director of the Office of Economic Growth of the USAID, noted that the United States is actively supporting the creation of a proper level of energy security in Kyiv.

"We actively co-operate with the Ukrainian capital. It will be very difficult for the city to carry out the modernization of the heat and power complex. But thanks to the team that you have gathered, we will be able to transform the heat and power complex of Kyiv. Today's event is only the first step, we have a lot of work ahead", - he said.
